Hey all,

I am about to start fitting some sort of in car audio system into my mini
(the previous head unit only picked up "old-codger FM" before it died).
The previous owner had 2 speakers in the rear parcel shelf and 2 in the
centre console. The speakers themselvs are shot, and I was wondering, when I
start pulling the whole lot to pieces (I am strongly considering getting rid
of the centre console becasue there is hardly any room to move my feet) what
is the best place to fit speakers, I don't intend to have speakers that can
beat a rave in terms of loudness, just clear and loud enough to be easely
heard over the engine at motorway speeds. Do I need 4 speakers, or will 2 on
the parcel shelf do? I can get hold of old metro door bins with speaker pods
built in, is it worth going down this route??

Thanks In advance for your advice

Nick

If you only have rear speakers, you will deafen rear passengers as the
speakers are so close to their ears. If you can manage a 4 speaker setup,
you can balance the volume much better.
I fitted my rear speakers in pods on the parcel shelf. I wired them in with
jack plugs to be removable and left about 18" spare cable. I can now take
them out and put them on the roof for playing outdoors at BBQ's etc. It's
proven very useful on a number of occasions.

John
