Hi,

Under the steering column on my 1990 mini cooper is a black box with a set
of wire connections on one side. On the box a sticker says "Rover Part: YWC
10073". I have opened the box and it contains a simple looking circuit.

I have looked on the Rover Parts list at;
http://www.minimania.com/MM/Rover_Parts_Catalog__1990_and_Later__updated_.htm but cant find it.

Does anybody have any ideas ??

Cheers

Dan

How does a MGF power steering ECU sound?

That is the only rover part I can find with the YWC serial prefix, in the
form of YWC 103773.

I found such an item on my 92 Cooper, I think it is circuitry for the fuel
cut off switch, probably a relay to prevent the ignition from working with
the key turned to on and start after a collision with the fuel cut off
operating?

Ere is the black box and wires also running of an orange relay?  If so it's
nothing more than the dim-dip relay for the dim-dip lighting system.

You know, if you switch your side lights on and then switch on the ignition
the lights get slightly brighter as the dipped filament lights up slightly.
Yes this was a lighting system fitted/enforced on all cars circa 1987
onwards and doesn't always work as the line fuse under the bonnet is either
blown or the senders fuse.  But try it and if it works disconnect it and
then if it doesn't work you'll know that's what's it's for.
