Hi

Just picking your minds in case I forgot something.

I have a Rover Mini Icon 1991.

Came with a set of steel wheels, which look at a bit boring so I bought a
second hand set of alloy wheels. I was told that they are genuine Rover
alloys.

When I changed the wheels over I snapped one of the wheel studs. So you can
see that I like my nuts tight.

I've replaced the stud and refitted the wheel. (front drivers side)

Have used the car for a about  eight miles (give or take) and I started
getting this chafing noise. Thought I best check the wheel nuts and three of
them were loose. Could have sworn I tightened them up ok. So I re tightened
them up and now they are loose again. This now continues, I tighten them and
after a few miles they are loose again. One of the nuts doesn't seem to
tighten as much as I would like but the other three appear to Tighten up ok.
But still they keep coming loose.

I'm not far from saying sod it and putting the steel wheels back on.

Any advice gratefully received

Cheers

Chris

I had two Friends that had the exact same problem.  Differernt kind of cars.
In both cases....   Bent Rim.  Even if the Rim looks ok "part" of the rim
could be bent.   Put that same rim on a other side and see if it still
happens.  I'll bet it does.      Nothing more fun explaining to the tow
truck driver where to retreive your tire.   "Been There Done that."

Are you using the correct nuts for the alloys?

You need more than just collars. The cone angle has to be correct for the
wheels.
