My battery is on the  way out on my 1998 MPI 1275 Cooper S  I want to
upgrade the ice  a little so would like an increased battery out put. I live
in the UK and would like to hear any advice and opinions on which Battery to
buy.
Any advice willingly  taken.

Thanks Paul Z.

Replaced mine a few weeks ago on my 2000 Mpi Cooper.
I measured the battery box depth (front to back) and width and bought the
largest 12V battery that would physically fit the battery box. Its a
maintenance free 55Ah instead of the standard 35Ah.

What i did was exactly that - measured that battery box.  I got a battery
for a 90's MG metro (non turbo) this is about the same specs as Raymond
seems to have.  More that adequare for spinning the engine over and a bit of
ICE.

Another alternative is to buy a battery for a diesel car (more amps out) or
if you can find one a dry cell battery for a caravan etc... (again more amps
out).

If you want to run a big ice system in your motor the more amps the better
but don't forget to put a main fuse onto the first 12V line.
