Hi anybody know if Sportspack arches will fit onto a 1974 Clubman?

Only asking coz I've been offered a clubman at a good price and was
wondering if the big arches would fit onto it or should I put them onto my
classic mini?

I think the front arches will need modifying as the inset for the bumper
will probably be in the wrong place. Was there a side repeater on the
Clubman? If not you may want to fit one to match up with the indent in the
top of the front arches.

As mentioned before the arches openings are the same shape.

The distance between the sports arch and the bar on a mini is virtually
nothing where as the clubman has heaps of room something like 150mm.

So if the arches will fit the mini then there is plenty of room to fit
the clubman.

I am buying the clubby at the end of the month along with some 13" wheels
from somewhere else, trying to get a good price for the 13" but they're all
at £250+.

Getting a set of minilights for the girlfriends classic so am also getting a
set of chrome "normal" arches for hers (and itll be pink!!!)

The clubby is also getting a 1300 lump dropped into it so it'll be a kinda
127GT but without it actually being a GT but a lookalike :))

Anyhoo the sports apck arches will be going onto the clubby when I take
delivery of it or go and pick it up.

BTW does anybody know if the metro front discs and callipers will go onto a
1975 clubby???

Ive been given a FULL metro complete with MG interior but not the 1300
engine :(( but I'll be stripping it and don't know to take off the brakes
and driveshafts, if they fit the Mini then I'll take them off and fit 'em.

Does anybody WANT a Metro shell for FREE. in excellent condition (absolutely
NO rust) but could be minus front brake assy.

If you want it and can take it away don't hesitate to contact me on my
e-mail...

I live in the NW of England (Wigan area)

Matt.

Please, Clubbies are getting a bit rare. Don't spoil it with 13" wheels
or sportspack arches.

Won't be a lookalike with those wheels on. And the 1300 lump will
probably have nothing in common with the old 1275 engine. Plus, you'll
be on drums, unless it has 12" wheels.

NOOOOOOOOO!

Yes, just like any normal Mini.

Sounds like you are spoiling a very nice little car.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I could have sworn this car is mine?

Sorry Nick but its just a car!!!!!

There wont be much damage to the bodywork when I fit the sportspack arches,
which I AM going to fit, just a couple of little teeny tiny little holes!!!

The brakes at the moment are drums coz its 1974 but will be fitting discs
off the metro if they fit and putting 13" wheels onto it...

I know its not a GT but I did say lookalike not a copy of the exact car coz
its being sprayed black with lots of chromey bits added..

Oh and one last thing did I mention its MY CAR????

Of course it's your car and you have the ultimate decision on what to do
with it.

It's just that I feel it's a shame to fit those 13" wheels and
sportspack arches to a typical 1970's design. Everyone and their
neighbour want's to fit those 13" wheels because it's the latest fad.
IMO (whish is just my opinion) Minis look so much better on what they
were designed with: 10" wheels.

But, yes, it's your car...

MiNiFrEeK :\) - 20 Jun 2005 14:57 GMT
Yup I agree EVERYONE is fitting sportspack arches to their Mini's but mine
will be from neccessity not for just the "LOOK" coz the 13's will be pretty
wide......

But on the other hand I may just fit 12" wheels instead of 13's coz I've
heard all sorts of bad things about fitting 13's and ball joints needing
renewing every 6 months or so and also wheel bearings going nuts all because
of the bigger wheels (more leverage etc.)

Yes it is my car and I do have the ultimate decision in what I do with it
and have been thinking long and hard about what to do with it with regards
to the bodywork and altering the design, but its gotta be a better black has
gotta be a better colour than the Heinz beanz orange it is currently
wearing.

Don't get me wrong Nick I'm not trying to pick a fight I think we are at
cross purposes here (probably me) the car will still look like a clubby coz
I'll be restoring it back to its former glory and then spraying it to "lool"
like a GT but something that might make a few people smile which is what its
all about innit?

He asked a specific question and solicited your opinion on if the arches
will fit. he did not ask for your Sunday lecture.

I don't know what your gripe with customizing is, but this is exactly what
has made Minis survived for so long.
