Drawbacks of the dash you are talking about are a very small glovebox and no other storage; and an instrument binnacle which hides the lower half of its dials beneath the steering wheel rim... not to mention the oil pressure warning light! Spent a summer photogrphing as many Mnis as possible at the Silverstone 40th anniversary, Mini in the Park and on the Riviera run. Most variants covered, I think, but no two Minis are the same <g>.
