If you're after .midi files, there are a number of them about - try some of
the midi binary newsgroups.

The only problem is, none of them sound right. Some are in the wrong key,
some have completely the wrong notes, and to paraphrase Eric Morecambe, some
have all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.

So, you can chit-chat about ring tones in this group. But you don't want
anyone talking about the current mini. Now I know you guys are messed up.

I recognise only one "Italian Job Movie"
and my personal opinion is; there is NO current mini in production,
There is of course, A remake of the original Movie,
and a 3 door euro hatch with the wrong badges fitted,
so a request for advice regarding a ring tone from the original sound track,
posted to a Classic mini NG is on topic,

Well, that would be your personal opinion. Not mine. Also, the original
poster wasn't asking for ring tone from "any" movie.

He asked for 'Self preservation society', which is the soundtrack song
from the Italian Job. Every Mini enthusiast knows it. Some even have
it playing on their air horns, as you would know if you had ever been
to a Mini event. So yes, the original poster was clearly on topic for
this newsgroup - a Mini enthusiast talking about Miini-related
matters. What could be simpler.

Of course an imposter wouldn't recognise any of that. What a giveaway

The "original" poster did not ask for any particular ring tone. The
second poster offered "on topic" advice. I am not an impostor. I own a
new mini cooper. Also, if you only recognize one movie, you are a
lonely, lonely man. So sorry.

It asked for a very specific ring tone.

So, if in your opinion, I'm an idiot, and you can't resist conversing
and replying to me. That would make you a blundering retard. As long as
this group exists, more and more of the new mini owners will be joining.

No one wants to substitute the genuine article. BMW only improved and
modernized it.

WHY???? You've a perfectly good newsgroup all of your own, setup
SPECIFICALLY for people like you who own the new mini, not the old one. 2
models of car, 2 newsgroups.

I belive people like you come here just to raise arguements because your own
newsgroup is rubbish, full of spam and people complaining about their new
mini having problems

(and to be fair steve, you don't help matters posting in the other group)

No, I am here because people like taffy and steve are continually in
alt.autos.mini.new insulting everything, just as they do here. Also no
one with the newer mini is having any problems, so, I like to come here
and hassle these guys right back. I didn't start it, but when slapped in

alt.autos.mini.new? So that bucket o' poop has *two* groups for people
to waste their time in? Yet you still feel the need to come over and waste
ours here? That truly is just sad. And as for your claims that the imposter
has surpassed the original in terms of popularity, we'll see if it's still
being
made, virtually unchanged, after 40 odd years....doubt it though seeing as
it's
little more than an oversized tub with all the charm and appeal of a stab in
the eye with a sharpened, frozen turd.

Yes your a bit funny too in a sad gay sort of way, but if you don't care for
the Issigonis (spelt with a capitol I ) Mini then that's your loss mate and
really your at a bit of a loose end here, but as there are few other losers

Another zappy comeback. Wow, you truly are a charmer, taffy. As far as
yanks being inbred. The United States is the most ethnically diverse
country in the world. So, if you are talking about inbreeding, look in
the mirror.
Next time think before you respond. People are laughing at you.

Ethnically diverse eh?  Yeah a right mess more like and the US of A try to
police the world and can't even sort out the mess on it's own doorstep.

And nobodies laughing at me Marky boy, I've been contributing to this
newsgroup for years.

One does not 'join' a newsgroup. One simply participates. I hardly
expect to see large numbers of owners of the BMW thing bothering to do
so. After all, very few of them know anything about Minis or have
anything to contribute. I seem to remember BMW UK having to write them
a letter to try an get them to show some sort of sense of community by
flashing each other. Didn't happen. It's a fashion accessory, not a
lifestyle choice..
