Hi all

My neighbour has just had a stage 1 kit fitted and is a bit miffed cos the
power seems the same as before when driving.
The car is a F plate 1000cc Saloon
It has been fitted with an RC40, K&N Filter and supposedly a new needle

I would like to know if any of you have any ideas on:-

1) which needle is best suited (currently AAU)
2) what the timing should be set at
3) what the mixture should be

Would much appreciate a quick answer.
Cheers all!!!

The needles supplied in stage one kits are rarely the right ones, they will
however get the car up and running so you can get it to a Rolling road..
this is the only place where you can quickly and easily sort the correct
needle out...

Timing, well your aiming to get full advance being in at around 3500rpm. -
Time it at 30deg BTDC at 3500 rpm - This does assume that the advance curve
in your distributor is right - which it probably isnt!

The rolling road will swing the distributor in to set up the timing at full
advance, but they may not be tailoring the advance curve to suit your
particular engine...

HTH,
Dave
