Hi all

Do the quadrants on the Mk 1 Handbrake pivot with the cable or does the
cable slide around them.

This is the Mk1 Hydro system with the fixed to the shaft quadrants

Cheers

I thought all mini quadrants pivoted,
and the two guides on the rear subframe where the only ones the cable slid
through

My memory of the quadrants, (may be different on the earlier ones) is there
is a 'bullet' crimped onto the cable that locates in the cut-out in the
quadrant and the ends of the quadrant are only slightly crimped at each end
to prevent the cable from falling of it when slack. The pivot regularly
siezes with rust/road grime and needs to be worked loose with WD40 or
similar.

I think all mini hand brake cables had barrel shaped locator,
but the crimping was close to the barrel, (either side of) rather than at
both ends of the quadrant,
