Hey,
When was the original Italian job released? Gotta say, I've never seen
it. Shame on me. Who was in it?

If you're going to troll, at least try and get your spelling right.
"Italin" - tut tut.

Marky You can get the film here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000AUHPB/qid=1138474377/sr=1-3/ref=pd_bbs_3/1
02-6889810-2736153?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=130

I even looked it up on the American Amazon Site so the DVD is region 1
that's assuming you actually have a DVD player of course?  Most of the
reviews are complimentary too and at just $6.99 you can't go wrong, so give
it a go, we all saw the 2003 version so naturally you should watch the
infinitely superior 1969 classic, Groovy Baby!

Another classic I'd recommend Marky Mate!:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0790750716/qid=1138476792/sr=1-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/1
02-6889810-2736153?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=130

And if you scroll down you can buy The Italian Job(1969) and Get
Carter(1971) together, so two classics well worth watching and like The
Italian Job, the new version of Get Carter starring Sylvester Stallone was a
great disappointment, read the reviews!

Thanks for the info. $6.99, not too bad. MadMax is my brother in law.
Two Marks, different last names. Sorry about the misspelling.

Yeah that's got a great Mini chase sequence in it too and you can buy that

After all this talk on the original Italian Job I decided to watch the DVD
last night, so I cranked up the 5.1 surround and sat back to enjoy and I
still laugh at the funny bits and there's the line "your only supposed to
blow the bloody doors off!" and the getaway is still outstanding and cheeky
just like the Mini even though I've seen it 4 million times since 1973 and
the picture quality is so good in widescreen and the sound is excellent too,
the only gripe I have is I want to hear the Mini's engine's screaming and
the exhausts roaring but the music drowns it out a bit, nice music though.
No wonder they put this film on every Christmas, it's become a national
institution and if your feeling a bit down, watch this because it cheers you
up every time.  And if your from the USA and will probably never drive a
classic, watch it because you may understand our love affair with this
amazing machine.

Tonight I plan to watch the original Get Carter, I love that too almost as
much as The Italian Job, but its a very different film and quite disturbing.
In The Italian Job Michael Caine plays Charlie Croker a lovable rogue
leading a gang of scallywags, in Get Carter he's a gangster called Jack
Carter who travels back to his home town of Newcastle (atmospherically by
train with that amazing title music playing) to find out why his brother
died and discovers he was murdered by gangsters because he threatened to go
to the police after his teenage daughter (or was she Jack's daughter?) was
lured into a porn making movie ring and Jack then literally turns into the
Terminator and kills just about everybody involved, notably that bloke who
used to be in Coronation Street, he gets thrown off the top of the famous
Gateshead multi-storey high rise car park and flattens a black Ford
Zephyr/Zodiac killing the occupants too, a very brutal movie showing Britain
at it's bleakest and so violent it'll turn your blood cold!  Look out for
all the groovy gals wearing mini-skirts, I love the shot of the dance floor
in that dance hall, very evocative of that era.

Tomorrow I think I'll watch the Bourne Identity!

Yes well it just goes to prove that crime doesn't pay I guess?  And anyway a
follow movie was planned, but never made thankfully, well how can you follow
that!?

Also look out for the bloke in the pub with 6 digits on one hand as he lifts
his pint. Didn't notice it myself I think I learnt about it from the
commentary on the DVD.
