It shares a name with our Minis. The tyre valves are the same too.
There's not much we can say to help people with New MINIs.

The old Metro, a horrid car, nonetheless shares many mechanical parts
with our Minis. Whilst we pity anyone who thinks the Metro is worthy of
much enthusiasm, and mercilessly poke fun at them, we accept them into
the fold, since we have much in common.

It is a TARDIS - I can fit more in the back of the metro saloon than I can
in either of my mini pickups - with or without the van type cover.

But it doesn't even have an A series engine!! It is however only 4 gears
and as another mini enthusiast told me "it is quite disturbing because it
drives like a mini until you come to a corner and understeer it badly and it
wallows around the corner" ;)

Oh yes it does!
At least the early ones did. Then one day it magically turned into a Rover
100 and got a K-Series engine.

Thats odd, I didn't realise you had seen my Metro ;)
Oh no it doesn't!

It got the K-series engine before it became a Rover 100 (apparently). It
took me by surprise when I looked under the bonnet after taking it for a
test drive as it only has four gears.
BTW it is a Metro nightfire.

I see then.
They switched to both the new engine and the new name at the same time only
for export markets, but kept the Metro name around a bit for the UK. You
won't find a K-Series Metro outside the UK.

I think he is referring to the Rover 100/Metro replacement which is a
rebadged Maruti made in India.
