Never seen a 12" x 175 wide tyre what profile is it? The rolling
circumference /overall height could also be different as the tyre wall
height is a % of the tyre width.
We had to put a tyre on my son's mini last week, it had Falcons on but I
couldn't get one locally in the time he needed it in we ended up with a Sime
165/60x12. Anyone heard of these?
It cost £35 fitted, new valve and balanced.

No never heard of Sime, probably a budget brand i'd imagine. But i'm a bit
in the dark over the 175 tyres too!

You need all 4 the same size to be legal in the UK for the MOT
Cheers

Hi,
Not quite right. Tyres on the same AXLE must be the same size. Front to back
is not imnportant as far as the MOT is concerned.

lol, reminds me of the old 'you must not mix radial and crossply on the same
axle' rule. No 'crossply on rear axle - radial front' wasnt it too?

Something like that, I can never remember which way round. I always have to
check the MOT tester's book

Well I did mention that earlier about the 1970's tyre safety advertisement.

Thanks for putting me right xx. I always think its a bit like wearing
shoes. If you wear odd ones it feels strange and you are more prone to slip
/ twist an ankle. The car must feel the same, so when it concerns sticking
to the road or stopping. Don't compromise, that's my motto
Cheers

I've used a set of 175/50x13 Simes here in Oz - they where good until
they got a little over half worn, then they started tramlining. But
for the price you could throw them away at that point and get a second
set and still be cheaper than one set of some of the others around (in
Oz at least)
