That is uncalled for.
John is completely right, if you can't find a 1-1/2" AF 1/2" drive
socket, and if you can't get a 38mm socket to fit, then a 3/4" drive
1-1/2" AF socket is the obvious solution.

Yup, I agree, and at no stage did I say I didn't.
John *sigh*ing at me thinking I hadn't thought about getting a 1/2" > 3/4"
drive adaptor is what I have issues with - as well as the availability of
decently priced 1-1/2" af sockets - ( i.e. not SnapOn's 100$nz+ socket, I
just don't need that quality of tool )
I've actually removed flywheels before - you could probably find my posts
on groups.google.com - but with borrow tools, hence my original question
was only about the socket size.
