xx - 07 Jun 2006 19:54 GMT Hi, all Just getting my new website up and running. It is primarily to display some of my collection of over 500 model Minis. But there will also be a page of interesting other mini related items, including some short Mini video clips and possibly a page of surplus models for sale.

Is it not time you started to act your age, assuming you are over 10years old? If you have nothing intelligent to say just keep your childish comments to yourself. You do not impress anyone. You are no better than the other arseholes who have already been killfiled on this NG

The menu buttons did not show up in my web browser. I couldn't get past the front page without going into your source and looking for the links.
Good collection though! I get enough hassle from the wife for having 2 Minis in the garage never mind over 500 in the house!
Cheers

> > Hi, all > > Just getting my new website up and running. It is primarily to display [quoted text clipped - 7 lines] > > > > Keith Taffy - 08 Jun 2006 01:08 GMT Yeah brilliant collection or Mini models Keith,
And i've got quite a few of them myself all boxed up in my attic at the moment, but I do want to get a cabinet to display some of them in perhaps.
Mind you I did get a 1970's Dinky Mini Clubman in bronze off E-bay the other week and it had "The New Avengers" advertised on the back of the box too.
Well I bid for that Mini as I had one when I was a kiddie, but mine got broke sadly and although i'm quite pleased with my purchase, it's not quite the exact model that I once had as it's a slightly later version, because the box is of a later style and the Mini Clubman model hasn't got the number plates or jewelled headlights fitted.
Apparantely Dinky started cutting back on detailing towards the end (they folded in around 1980?) and although i've seen the exact same model that I had with the detailing and correct box etc, as ever they seem to be the ones everyones after and the bidding goes crazy and I'm not prepared to spend a massive amount of money on a model.
Well not at the moment anyway, but once my finances improve after my house move, who knows, perhaps I'll get lucky one day?
All the best and keep collecting mate because they'll be worth a mint in the future,
Taffy
xx - 08 Jun 2006 01:33 GMT > Yeah brilliant collection or Mini models Keith, > [quoted text clipped - 25 lines] > > Taffy Hi, Yes, ebay is a good source for rare models, but some of the prices are staggering. Last year I went mad on ebay and spent over £1000 on models, and luckily I managed to get some rare ones. The rarest one is in my collection now. It is crome plated on an oak plinth and was made by the Rover apprentices as prizes for the concours at the 1984 International Mini Meeting at Donnington park. (that was the Mini 2 Celebration) There were only 25 made and they all came in presentation boxes. The other prize which came with it was a caithness Crystal decanter with a Mini engraved on one side and the Mini 25 logo on the other side; again there were only 25 made. As I gradually build the site you will see many of my other rare and hard to get models. As for the Clubman, there were very few made, and I believe most were made as police panda cars. Nobody made the pick-up until around1989 or so, when I found one on a German trader's stall at the Mini 30 celebration at Silverstone. Since then Cararama have produced some very nice pickups in 1/43 scale.

Taffy - 09 Jun 2006 01:06 GMT Oh yes Mini Models are irresistable, just like the real thing I guess, but I did get another couple of models off E-Bay recently.
One was a dark blue corgi Police Mini Van and the other was a Vitesse green MKI Mini and as they weren't boxed, I got them quite cheap and their in excellent condition though, so I was well pleased.
But yeah I got my red Corgi Mini 30 in the box with a certificate from the Mini 30 Birthday celebrations at Silverstone back in 1989. But prior to that I also got a yellow Corgi Mini City and then 3 Corgi Racing Mini's in a long box and i've not seen many of those around.
The one set I wish I'd bought was the Corgi Italian Job collectors boxset, featuring the 3 Mini Cooper S and it was released around 1994 I think and the models were better detailed than many of the later versions as that boxset had them with the 3 spot-lights in the correct positions. Mind you it cost around at least £25.00 back then and the cars are quite tiny, but I've seen them for sale now from a collector at shows for over £65.00 and I've not been to a Mini Show for some time, so god knows how much their worth now. Oh and I've searched E-Bay, but there's none available there or at least I couldn't find them.

Hi, Yes, Taffy the prices asked for some Mini models is staggering, and I know that the later Italian Job set with the coach is now fetching over £150. I have one model in my collection, boxed, which has been valued by a dealer at £80. This model and a few others will be offered for sale on my site when I have got a sales page together. I will not be asking that much for it though. The police van you bought, is it the one with the policeman and dog?.

How about Barbie and Ken? Keithie, do you also collect firbies?
Taffy - 14 Jun 2006 03:07 GMT No I got it cheap off E-bay and it wasn't boxed, so that probably explains why it's so cheap if it's missing the policeman and dog, but apart from that it's absolutely mint.
As for the Corgi Italian Job Mini's, well the ones with the bus aren't that old, I mean I remember seeing them in the shops quite recently. But their of the type with the rally bonnet mounted spot lamps, rather than the 3 lamps on a bar like in the actual movie and the rare box-set i'm after.

Taffy - 25 Jun 2006 13:20 GMT Well I finally managed to get an almost perfect replacement for the Dinky Mini Clubman I had as a kiddie back in the mid 1970's, so i'm now the proud owner of one with jewelled head-lights and number-plates too and I only paid 12 quid for it as it happens:-
And here is the little beauty for proof on item:- 7041977987 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7041977987&sspagename=ADME% 3AB%3ARTQ%3AUK%3A1&rd=1
Anyway that "The Italian Job" Corgi model collection I was after has appeared on E-bay too, but the spot-lights aren't correct on those either as it turns out, but I think the Vanguards versions got them right?
Well here's that set, but i'm holding off for now as i've already bought too many models this month as it is! ;O)

Taffy - 26 Jun 2006 22:38 GMT Well i'm planning on getting a nice little glass display cabinet for my front room and then i'll display all my favourite Mini models and that Clubman is one of them.

They are quite safe, though as they are all packed in trays between layers of foam. I have over 500 in all, so putting them back in the cabinets is a major job.

Taffy - 27 Jun 2006 17:59 GMT Well I haven't quite got 500 models yet, but I do hope to display a few of my favourites anyway.
Oh yeah and did you know the Corgi Beatles Mini based on George Harrisons Psychedelic Mini Cooper got withdrawn after his death, because they weren't allowed to use the Apple logo or something?
Well that bloody model is worth a mint now and i'm gutted I didn't buy one when they were readily available a few years back!

Its to be expected my friends, the "sh.t for brains" is grasping at straws trying to attack individuals, and disrupt threads, I have learned to identify the genuine Taffy, His accent comes through in his posts, or should I say certain words used in sentences, could only be put there if your a Taff, SFB, can't duplicate that, no doubt he will clone each of us over and over, I wonder if he can talk like a scouser ;-) Just don't respond to any of his posts, "all rite there lar" KILLFILE is the answer, Fitzy

Taffy - 28 Jun 2006 16:36 GMT And in Stereotypical Welsh fashion all I want to say is alright but and yes boyo, this is me talking Wenglish, so i'm off now to play a bit of rugby, then i'm going to sing in the local Treochy Male Voice Choir as i've just done a 48 hour stint down the pit and my wife has a bun in the oven for me too! Then i'm going to get drunk down the con club! LOL
Oh yes i'm definitely from the land where men are men and sheep are worried! ;O)
Taffy
Taffy - 28 Jun 2006 17:11 GMT Oh yes and i've just received another 2 models from E-Bay wins today, one's a Corgi Rally Mini Cooper (with rally mud effect) and the others a Solido Mini British Open Classic LE.
So my collection is building up very nicely too!
Taffy

Keep at it and you will be surprised how quickly you can bui;d up a useful collection. I started about 18 years ago with about 6 models, and now I have over 500. Keith
Taffy - 19 Jul 2006 22:54 GMT Well I got this today and it's a model set i've been after for some time. I know Corgi did a box-set back in around 1992, but they didn't include the 1966 disqualified car, yet they currently have a set available now that includes the complete 4 winners including (of course) the 1966 model too.
Anyway I'm very pleased as the detailing is breath-taking and the only flaw I can find is the cars don't feature twin-petrol tank filler caps. But I guess Lledo weren't going to create new moulds just for that?

Taffy - 03 Aug 2006 20:25 GMT I just got this one a couple of day back too:-

And I hope it is the South Wales Police as in South Wales, United Kingdom (my part of the world!) and not New South Wales, Australia/New Zealand or whatever.
Well the other one available (as you can see) is a Bedfordshire Police Mini, so I expect their all UK based Police Mini's anyway.

David Betts - 09 Jun 2006 05:35 GMT >works fine in internet explorer, perhaps you should try that. Hardly likely to bother to use IE just to access one web-site. Incidentally, I do have a broadband connection, although signal strength on my wireless network may have been down a little yesty.

Apart from that it's okay really.
