What you need is a Halogen headlamp conversion kit. Wipac do one. I got
mine from one of the Mini specialists, you can get them on ebay at £31
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140065710477
They are relatively eay to fit and all the necessary connectors are
included in the kit.

Here are some fitting instructions for the replacement H4 headlights
for the Mini
http://www.ocoop.com/mini-halogen-lights.htm
The conversion kit is only ?23 for the lot, well worth it this time of
year. Stick some spotlights on the front to really brighten things up!
