My bmw dealer wants $2200 to replace the clutch? ($110/hr) I am thinking of finding another place. Where can I find a good MINI mechanic? I'm in northern Farfield, CT. Depends if it is a pre verto or verto set up the parts for the verto unit are dearer most local garages could do this in about 4 Hours at £25ish per hour. Hi, i am a certified Mini tech from BMW of the hamptons. 20 hours sounds kinda high, because i've done tons of clucthes and i think the most i've gotten paid is 15 hours, and i can usually get them done in 10. then again my dealership seems to be afraid to charge customers money. maybe it would be worth it for you to call them up just for the hell of it, even if you dont want to take the car all the way to long island, its good just to get info. our # is 631-283-0888. just ask how much for a clutch job, dont say anything to them about talking to me, either. the reason the clutch takes so long is that usually the engine and trans have to be removed together, then split apart on the floor to get the clutch out. this depends on whether or not you have a cooper S, the tranny is a bit bigger in those. and even then we have done the job with the engine still in the car, its just a pain in the butt and pretty awkward. they may have quoted you a time for the wrong car, etc.. because on some vehicles the repair manual tells you to remove the engine and on some it doesnt. hope this helps, and BTW, if we werent living so far away i would be happy to do it for you for far less >My bmw dealer wants $2200 to replace the clutch?
