How to Save This Newsgroup

Anybody who is an actual user of alt.autos.mini and not a spamming
trolling crossposter, I'm attempting to rejuvenate the newsgroup.

I invite you to join me in making this a useful group again.

The method is simple: use a killfile (message filters) to remove future
postings of the adolescent w.nkers that have infested the group. If you
copy and paste the address of the sender of crap into a new message
filter set to "mark as read," and set the "view" setting of the
newsgroup to "unread," any further messages from that person will not be
visible when you re-open the newsgroup and download the new headers.

That way, they can post all of the filth and nonsense they want to and
you will never see it.

I also invite you to begin posting mini-specific content again.

This message is from Rocky Frisco. You may remember me as the original
creator of alt.autos.mini. The "Wee Rocket" name refers to my 1967
Cooper S, "The Luggage."

It has been a while. I recently accessed a.a.m just on a whim and was
appalled by the juvenile crap infesting the group. Maybe we can make it
useful again.

OK, I'm game, I'll try with you. I've already filetred a few (hmm,
Freudian typo there, filleting might be better than filtering for some
of them!) and I tend to use Ignore Thread on a lot of them too.

I'm not an original, but I do care deeply for both the freedom of Usenet
and Minis - just about to pick up my 4th (concurrent) Mini which is a
Mk1 Clubman to go with my Elf, Clubman Estate and 78 roundnose.

From experience elsewhere, if the core of a group hammer these tosspots
enough they'll go away. It might be hard work, but it's winnable. Let's
go for it!

Good on you!  I was sad to see this group disintegrating.  I'll hang in.

I block ANYONE who is offensive (and I have a high threshhold) or who talks
about frogs or radios.  I also only reply to alt.autos.mini.  As long as all
the genuine Mini posters do the same, the spoilers will become irrelevant.
If the real enthusiasts do not respond at all to the children, genuine
posters won't get blocked by mistake, the children won't have a game and
they will have to find another place to turn into a toilet they can play in.
The only question I have is how do you block those who mimic genuine
posters' usernames?

Not sure. Guess we will have to deal with that if it happens.

I am Rocky the gay! Help save this newsgroup and hump anyone who stands
in the way. I like to drive around in little cars and expose myself to
under aged boys. Please masturbate and think of me, for I am a legend in
my own mind. Quick, give me a mirror, I have an erection!
