What exactly do you mean? What are the features you have been sold? Pull
down door handles? Quarter vent windows?
> Is there anything I should know about fitting them to a non-Aussie MkII?
What are you going to fit them to?

Exactly. Quarter vents and wind-down windows.
Where am I going to fit them? Well... to the place a door was designed to be
fitted on a Mini.

Pull down handles?

I asked to what you were going to fit them, not where to.
If the doors have lift up handles, rather than pull down handles you will
have the devil's own job making them fit. You will need the matching B
pillar.

Oh, I see. Pardon my sarcasm.
Hm, as there is a shipment of approximately 18 Aussie minis coming into
Canada, I could probably find a pair with pull-down handles. I was rather
hoping for lift-up handles. I didn't actually realise that there would be
different latching on the B-Pillar. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the
tip.
Otherwise, if I can get Aussie doors with pulldown handles, all should be
well?

Exactly. The lift off handles are associated with an anti burst mechanism
in the latching arrangement, and short of transplanting a B pillar, you'd
not get anywhere. Please don't think about a B pillar swap!!

All Aussie Minis are Mk I shells with UK MkI style external hinges.
Aussie doors come in three varieties:
A) UK style sliding windows, UK style latch. Fitted to imported and
local 850s and vans until about 1966.
B) AU style wind up window with quarter vent window, UK style latch.
Fitted to Mini Minor 998, Mini Deluxe 998, Mini K 1100 until 1970. Can
be fitted in place of type A above.
C) AU style wind up window with quarter vent window, unique AU design
burst proof latch with "modern" lift up external handle, which wears
out. Fitted to later Mini K 1100, all Clubmans. Cannot be fitted to a
shell which has the early UK MkI style latch strikers without major
surgery.

If your MkII has concealed hinges, then no Aussie door will fit.
If you have MkI external hinges, type A above is identical to your
original doors and type B can be fitted. Type C cannot be fitted without
major surgery.

Thanks very much Graham! I know what I'm looking for when they open the
container now :-)

Chris, does your car have external hinges?
If yes you can fit the Aussie doors with the twist handle.
If no then you will have trouble!
Michael.
