I've just bought myself a Waxoyl rustproofing kit, consisting of a large tin
of Waxoyl a spray-gun and probe.  Has anyone used this stuff to thoroughly
rustproof their Mini?

I've heard it helps if you stand the Waxoyl tin in hot water to help the
substance flow better and that you need to drill a hole into the inner sill
below the doors to inject it there?

I'd be grateful for any hints/tips on what to do.

Cheers,

Taffy

Definitely leave the tin standing in a bucket of hot water for several
minutes before you use it, it allows the wax to penetrate better.

If you have the original sills you should be able to spray up from the
drainage holes, you can also get in from the rear storage bins.
Don't get any on your exhaust or brake disks!
Make sure the drainage holes in the doors and sills are clear when you have
finished.

Also, pull the check strap seal off and inject wax down the pillar.

Then up under the windscreen from inside the car, above each air vent. There
is a horizontal panel about 1" below the corners of the scuttle. You need
wax in there.

Try to get wax all along the underside of the windscreen lower rail (from
inside the car). Important on later cars from the 90's where the seam that
the screen seal sits on rusts.

If you have a wood dash, it will have to come out to do either of the last
two jobs.

Up under the rear side windows. Again from inside the car.

And taffy_turner was sitting next to Elvis in the spaceship, which I
thought was kinda strange, but then they turned to me and said:

Unless it's a really, hot day, you won't get it to go through the sprayer
unless you do!

If you don't fancy drilling holes in your inner sills, you can remove the
cardboard liners from the rear side stowage bins and you'll find that you
can get access to the insided of the sills through there.

Be warned, Waxoyl is the messiest, stickiest substance known to man, and
extremely difficult to remove from carpets, upholstery etc.
