Loss of Power

I have an MG 1275 engine (standard) fitted in my mini.

If I rev the engine out of gear, there are no problems and the engine runs
fine.

But when in gear and the engine needs to do some work, it bogs down and
loses revs (throttle is open fully).

I have not looked into it yet as its a car I am doing up, but I have a
feeling it is carb related (dashpot maybe?).

Has anyone encountered this before?

Thx

Well - just in case make sure that the ignition is 100% before  you
start on the carby - and hows the fuel filter?

Dunno but I will check it!

Before you get into complicated stuff, check the really simple and
obvious -

Yes, check the oil level in the dashpot. If you slowly increase the
throttle opening, can you use full throttle successfully?

Yes when the engine is out of gear, but not under load.

The dashpot seems to be emptying very quickly, I think this could be the
problem.  I am a little busy at the moment, but I will look into it soon!

Thx for your help
