Has anyone dealt with the Mini dealers in and around the NYC area (Manhattan,
Morrisontown, Princeton, Prestige, etc.). I am interested in how these
different dealers do business. I want to purchase a Mini but I'm also
interested in possibly becoming a Motoring Advisor for one of these
dealerships. Thank you in advance.

I think you want to purchase a MINI, in which case; you're in the wrong
place.

This is not a newsgroup for the MINI?
The Muffin Man - 01 Oct 2003 22:26 GMT
I think you mean "This is not a newsgroup for the MINI!"
Sorry, couldn't resist. There is a good MINI NG called something like
alt.autos.new-mini. It appears to be well used and used to the sort of
questions you want to ask. In here we tend to talk about oil and grime and
that sort of thing rather than finance options and warranties.
Hope this points you in the right direction

It is the newsgroup for the Mini, not of the "MINI" or the "BINI" or any
other equivalent of the BMW mini. Sorry about my fellow newsgroupites, they
weren't being particularly helpful here.
Look around for a newsgroup for "new mini" or something like that, and
you're likely to be able to be helped far better than here.

How unhelpful is saying "go to alt.autos.new-mini"?

For some dumb reason, your post didn't appear until after I posted mine.
Very odd. But agreed - that was far more useful than the other advice.

As is the Vauxhall corsa. Doesn't mean if someone starts asking advice
about it I am going to have a go at them. I may helpfully suggest
free.uk.cars.vauxhall as a better alternative to here.

Ernest Marples was Minister of Transport in or around 1960.
He is "credited" with the introduction of the MoT test (used vehicle safety
standards testing) and with the reduction in the UK railways. Whether the
latter initiative was because the advent of low cost cars meant more people
wanted to drive instead of ride, or because his company (Marples-Ridgeway)
built lots of roads, is undetermined.

Don't you mean Beeching? In any case though Marples was the Minister.

I think you are right in both cases. I think "k" was almost correct in that
Beeching was the axe man, but Marples was the minister in charge. He was the
one who asked Beeching to make the proposal. No doubt if they wanted to get
a man to do an enquiry that recommended expanding the railways, Marples
would have asked someone else!

And BYE14ME was sitting next to Elvis in the spaceship, which I thought
was kinda strange, but then they turned to me and said:
