hi,
i had a 1275 metro engine conversion done back in july but the prob i have
is tht it shows 82400 miles on the clock wich is not true as the new engine
was 53200 when i had it fitted. Any idea how to adjust that as it looks odd
when shown to people ?

Unfortunaly you can't do it legally, the car has to read it's travelled
milage not the engine. It is possible to do, but just not legal.

Your state's laws don't even apply in other Australian states, never
mind in other countries.

Why not buy a new set of clocks. Get a nice set of magnolia ones. Why not
travel 18000 miles in the next year or two or are you trying to sell it. If
you want the car for you then get new clocks, if you are trying to fiddle a
sale, don't, it is very naughty ;)

thanks for the quick replies.
The fact is i am going to sell it after the mot is done wich is today,
however i dont wanna fiddle anything. The truth is if i was an eventual
buyer i probably would be a bit hesitant looking at the clocks thats why i
asked but i didnt even know that is was illegal, so i just leave it as is.
thanks again

people aren't going to be that concerned with mileage on a 13 year old car.
If it was exceptionally little like my metro which had 5000 on the clock
when I bought it two years ago as an Lreg, then it really matters. For
something like my pickup which is 1970 no one cares and at 13 years old,
no-one cares.

The mileage on the speedometer shows the mileage that the car has
travelled, not the engine... so best leave it how it is.

The mileage of the rest of the car is still 82400 miles...
The clock measures the mileage of the car as a whole, not just the
engine.....

The mileage indicated should be that covered by the car from new, not
just the engine. Any attempt to change it could look like fraud when
you come to sell the car. Much better to show the prospective
purchaser proof of the engine swap and engine mileage, which you
should have on the receipt of purchase.
