Read your answer to the Mini Club question and wanted to say thanks.  In
1999 My friend Denise and I (Kimini) started a mini Club up here in Dunedin,
New Zealand, we did everything we could to get it up and running, we did the
newsletter, we did promotions  heaps of stories about the club in the
Newspapers, pictures, getting more members, you name it we did it, and then
we got voted in as President and Vice President, but all along we kept
wanting the club to be kept as a fun club, unfortunately some people got
jealous and starting making comments behind our backs, they went on about
the rules, they went on about displays we put on, they put us down to other
people and in the end we didnt get back on the committee as they hijacked
the AGM jesus it was bad, so bad because Denise and I had started it, that
we resigned just two weeks ago, because basically everytime we went to club
things, we were looked at like aliens!! so we knew they were still at it.
Now to top off our resignations where finally we got to say our feelings and
how pissed off we were, they then (the New Committee) sent us a letter
threatening us with Legal Action of a search warrant to come and search our
property, that was the last straw for me.  So The Muffin Man I agree totally
with your answer, As much as I wanted a Mini Club for such a long time, its
just not worth ruining my Love of My Mini for some people who are out for a
Power Trip (ego inflation).   Thank you Muffin Man.

Glad to be of service.  I just think that commitees get in the way of
driving and having a fun because it becomes about "I am in charge" rather
than "I have some friends".

Sorry to hear things were so bad for you.  I have been there when mini clubs
go wrong and it can get nasty.  I used to do re-enactment and exactly the
same thing happened.  The chairman lost interest and was replaced.  When the
whole thing got better rather than dying without him (the show must go on)
he decided he wanted it back after not coming for a year.  Some people
wanted him back and others wanted the guy who took over to carry on.  When
the original guy lost the vote he took his bat and ball and about half the
members with him.  Both halves collapsed because there weren't enough
members to do it anymore.
