IMHO If its for road use then ditch the webber and fit a suitably sized
SU...

Sell the webber on Ebay and more than make the money to get an 1 3/4 SU

What model Weber is it? There are side-draft and down-draft types and
of course each model within the two basic types has a model number. If
you're unsure look around on the web for pictures. The Pierce Manifold
site is a good start. Here's the URL:

thanks for the responses.

well i got the carb fitted in the mini when i bought it and to be honest i
find it picks up speed better than my other 1275 with an SU carb.

However i am selling this mini and seems like not many people are interested
due to the carb but i also mentioned to them that it also comes with an SU
carb with it so whoever buys it can swap it or do whatever.

I've just bought a 45mm side-draft weber for my cooper s.  The guy who's
just done up the head for me (wasn't a genuine s head, so got full porting
job + 'mk1 S spec' valves) insists that the Weber is much more versatile
than an SU.  Whether they're better seems to be debatable though, but at
least they sound good.  I'm told that if you've got a hot cam, you can get a
smoother idle with a weber - we'll see...

Apparently you don't need the choke, because of the Weber's built-in
throttle pump - just give it a couple of pumps before you start, then let it
warm up a bit before you take off and you're fine.
As for the air-filter, its probably a case of what will fit. Mine came with
a Ramflo filter as that's one of the only types that will fit (with the 3.5"
manifold) without cutting a hole in the firewall (bulkhead)

You can't beat flooding the carb instead of having a choke.  On my triumph
motorbike it has a "tickle switch" which is essentially a button that
empties the petrol tank into the carb and squirts a bit everywhere.  With
the straight through pipes I run I have had some really good flames shooting
out when you kick it off.

;)
