I currently have twin hs2 carbs on my 1300 innocenti cooper.
I also own an HIF 6 (1.75 inch) and i was wondering if i should mount
the latter.  i intend to buy a stage 1 kit and i have read that it
esyer and cheaper to find high performnace inlet manifold for single
carbs rather than the twin carbs.

What difference will it make to mount a single carb and would
mintaining twin carbs hinder performance gain when installing a stage
1 kit?

Cheers

1.75/1.25 = 7/5.

(7/5)^2 = 49/25.

The HIF6 has near as damn twice the cross section of each individual HS2
carb, 2% less than the pair.

Consensus of opinion nowdays seems to be that the single carb is the
better solution.

It probably goes without saying but I'll say it anyway. Keep the twin
carbs and parts in a safe place. The Innocenti 1300 Export is probably
the only collectable Mini made after 1971.

Cheers,

Kelley

anybody is intersted, today i found an article on this month's mini
magazine where twin 1.25 and hif6 carb setups are compared. It
concludes that there is no real differnce between the two but the
single carb has scope for better performnce on non heavily modified
(larger) engines and provides smoother idle, response and lower
emissions.
Furthermore they tried mounting an in-house design stub stack to the
1.75 inch carbs and found gains above 3200rpm in the order of 8 % in
terms of power and torque over the standard 1.75 carb "and" the twin
1.25 setup.

I'm definetly going for the single Hif 6!

Thanks everyone!!!
