Hello all,
I think I'm about to stuff a metro engine into my mayfair.
Can anyone tell me anything about any perceived difficulties with
this?

the engine number is 99H907P198031

Can anyone help decode this. Other than the '99H' bit I don't know
what the rest can tell me.....

Thanks!

Tony

And Canned was sitting next to Elvis in the spaceship, which I thought was
kinda strange, but then they turned to me and said:

You'll probably need to drill and tap some holes to connect up the heater
feed.

Also, the Metro engine doesn't have a thermostat bypass, and unless you
make some provision for this, you'll likely damage the engine.

To ask the hard question is simple.

Tony,

I typed 'mini engine number' into Google and it brought up this page:

http://www.minimania.com/MM/Engine___Identification_Data_UPDATED.htm

which has this as the closest match:

998 A+ block with centre locating tang in main cap, 1985 onwards

Flat top piston with circlip wrist pin retention

99H/997       From engine number 127422 with 2.95 final drive

Shaun.

If the 907 was B97 this would be from a Metro Saloon or van '86 onward
with an 8.3:1 c/r.
Look in the "Engine Number Database" at

http://drcwww.kub.nl/~bogaard/heads.htm

Engine numbers are often mis-read so it's worth double checking.

Cheers,

Kelley
