My sister/nephew's Mini Open Classic Mini needed a new downpipe, so it was
booked into a local garage.  We had to wait a week to get it looked at, then
over a week before they managed to get the parts (using their suppliers, not
Mini ones) then after almost 2 weeks the car still wasn't ready as someone
had ripped the locking fuel cap off and nicked the petrol.

Ok our patience was tested, but the garage claimed the car was locked in the
garage every night and maybe it had happened prior to them having the car!

Anyway they replaced the cap, with a big ugly black one, so a nice chrome
one's needed now, but it was running on fumes until we got petrol for it.

And the cost?  ?84.00 including fitting for a standard downpipe.

I was in Combe Martin over the summer with my newly purchased MKII.  I
parked in a local car park and was told there was no crime ever.  The next
morning both the real petrol cap and the dummy one were pried off ruining
the tank neck.  Luckily a local garage in Bideford, Mainly Minis, fixed me
up with an new tank and a couple of caps for £25.  With the price of petrol
over there it is amazing it is not an every day occurrence.

Oh it was just a local grease monkey hole in the wall garage called M B
Motors situated in the Rhondda Valley so nobody hear is likely to fall foul
of them.

Mind you the tracking was off after we had the car back, so we've had to
spend a further ?15.00 putting that straight too.
