i'm about to change my front drums to disc. i was wondering if there is any
difference in quality between the 8.4" or 7.5" discs? any help would be
appreciated.
Bigger disc theoretically means more powerful stops.

what size rims are you using> 8.4 will not fit inside 10inch rims, you need
a minimum of 12inche. 8.4 should be slightly better than 7.5. Also 7.5 are
Cooper S discs and are like rare as hens teeth in good second hand
condition, you can buy brand new but they are expensive. 8.4 are ten a penny
(well not quite LOL) and there fore much cheaper and easier to source. If
you are currently on 10's the you'll need 7.5, but you may find the cost of
buying 7.5's is more than gettine 8.4 and up sizing to 12 inche rims??? Its
up to you really to do the maths and work out for your self what you need.
Both will stop better than drums.

In either case, you need to be aware that the wheel mounting face moves out
by nearly 1". The 12" wheels are more inset to compensate so you will need
spacers or the spacer drums on the rear to use 12" wheels.
Unles you use Cooper S wheels on 7.5" discs, you will also require wheel
arch extensions to cover the wheels.

Hi,
If you want to retain the 10 inch wheels, then it's 7.5. If you are not
worried about handling then you could go for 8.4 and 12 inch wheels.
7.5 could cost you up to ?400 for a decent set, but 8.4s are available in
any scrappy for peanuts.
