I had to replace a bent driveshaft on my Mini Clubman 1979 with Metro Disks.

The one that I have got as a replacement is too long. ( I think it must be a
Metro's).  I just cannot get the hub back on.

Does anyone know the correct length so I can get a replacement ?

How much too long?

We don't have Metros or Metr brakes in Australia, but a 1100/1300 short
driveshaft is the same length as a Mini long driveshaft. 1300 auto inner
uni joints are a whisker less deep than CooperS/Minimatic ones, so to
use them in a Minimatic you have to cut about 1/4" off the driveshaft
inner end.

If the car has inner pot joints the long shaft is 448mm and the short shaft
is 372mm overall.
If the car has rubber couplings, they are both about 50mm shorter.

Were any British Minis built with Hardy Spicer uni joints rather than
pot joints or rubber cross joints?

Yes. Cooper S from April 1966 onwards, and early automatics. These used
basically the same shafts as the rubber coupling cars. However, I believe
the S used a stronger shaft.

OK, this matches Aussie practice - Cooper S and all Minimatics. All our
Minimatics would be "early" by yours standards, since they gave them up
about 1970 here.

Thanks Graham and Steve, much appreciated.

To answer your question, way too long.

If you remove the inner CV joint you can just get the hub and wheel back on,
but even then the driveshaft is hard up against the engine.

With the inner CV joint on, well you can't get the hub on full stop.

that would be the left hand side of the car yeah ???
if so you need the shorter drive shaft
