If its an insurance job it will probably get written off, if not think the
subframes are arround ?170, all a case of how bad the body is bent, & what
other bits are needed, plus labour,
Steve.

"Slightly bent the floor"??
That sounds very very grim. To buckle the floor, you have to change the
shape of the perimeter of the floor. In other words, the shell would
have to be distorted. On the other hand, a simple dent in the floor does
not require the body to be distorted.

Not without looking at it, but the key question is whether it's "just" a
pair of subframes, or is the body buckled too, in which case it's almost
certainly beyond economical repair.

How many subframes have you bent, one or two? Front or back? Where is the
floor bent? How big is the bend? How much do you think the car is worth?

Its just bent the front subframe so i know it will need a new one, the bend
is more of a slight crease just towards the back on the wheel arch, cant see
anywhere else which has bent. Car is worth around ?1000 but its not going
through insurance, its only 3rd party and i cant really claim off a puddle
unfortunatly!
Thanks for the ideas up to now.

I can't comment on the shells structural integrity but you can get a
subframe from a scrap yard and replace it yourself in a day. If you go to a
mini club see if they will help you out. I know that when I was seventeen
and a mate snapped his front subframe going around a roundabout we replaced
his - he then snapped it going into another car within a week.
Mini Clubs are very resourceful and usually helpful

Cheers mate, quite tempted to do the work myself and save the money, my dad
used to own mini's and has replaces a subframe before, i also like the idea
of going to a local mini club, thanks for the ideas.

I hope it goes together ok,,
because I would say, when the floor moves, so does the other stress points
associated with subframe mounts,
it might need Jigging because the damage maybe not visible to the naked eye,
it might end up "Crabbing"
this is if the geometry of the body is not right then the rear subframe
alignment will not be right , this causes the car to travel slightly
sideways,
I'm sure we have seen a few of these cars over the years, and not
necessarily Mini's,

Well i got the quote this morning, ?600 for labour alone, and another ?300 +
Vat for a new subframe from a main dealer. I told him where to stick the
quote and am organising for nippy to be returned home before i get it towed
to my dads. He has agreed to do the work with me in his garage, so we get
warmth and a dry place for the work, quite looking forward to the
acomplishment when it is finished now, and the thought that i have saved
?600 + on labour!!
Thanks people, i'll let u know how it goes.

There's no need to alienate them just because the damage is worse than
you'd hoped.

Was the £600 + *just* to replace the subframe, or also to straighten the
bodyshell?
