Since last thursday my mini has been at the garage i take it to usually, but
this time for a 1300 conversion. Been told will take only two days and here
i am still today not got it back. Rang up and been told will be definately
ready tomorrow lunch time and i could go and pick it up, HOWEVER they fitted
my stage 1 kit that was bought for the 998cc from minisport!!!

My question is; i allways thought the 998cc kit wasnt the right one for the
1275 am i wrong? Also what can i do to change just the back box, would for
example a DTM fit straight to my old stage 1 kit link pipe or whatever the
name is?

Any help much appreciated

What was in your "stage 1 kit"?

Many of the parts which will make a 998 go faster, such as extractors or
a better inlet manifold, will also improve a 1275, but obviously a
modified 998 cylinder head is not a bonus on a 1275!

Unless it has a cylinder head (show me a Stg 1 kit with one of those and I
will stand back in amazement) it should all fit straight on and help in the
same ways as it would with a 998.  Have they changed the carb to an 1"3/4?
If they have they will need to change the backing plate on the cone filter
as it will no longer fit.  If the Stg 1 kit had one (and I haven't seen one
yet that hasn't).

A 1275 will run on an 1"1/2 (the sprites used to) but they are much more fun
with 1"3/4 ;-)

thanks for the replies guys.

right, my stage1 kit came with a pipercross cone filter and inlet manifold,
spring, needle, manifold, y piece, and the rest....

the engine conversion includes everything from a 1300 car and hardly
anything from my old engine. So i take it the stage 1 kit that was fitted to
my 998cc engine will definately be the same for a 1300?

cant wait to see and feel the difference and the engine noise if any!!! cant
wait any longer, heeeeeeeeelp

And tg was sitting next to Elvis in the spaceship, which I thought was
kinda strange, but then they turned to me and said:

The big bore blocks are very slightly taller, so some Stage1 kits supply a
slightly taller exhaust manifold.

The needle supplied with a 998 kit will be totally off for use with a
bigger engine.

The needle/spring combination for 998 won't be the best combination
for a 1275 but the rest will be fine.

Update !!!

just got the car back and to be completely honest, not being sure if they
tuned the car properly but it doesnt feel that quick. I am rather
disapointed and even thought they just resprayed my old engine red, but they
actually didnt. it is a 1300.

Booked a rolling road session for tomorrow morning hoping this will clear
things out, in the meantime am not very happy :o(

A 998 and a 1275 are different in feel from driving.  One gets you a to b
the other vrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooooooomm.
