Kill Switch in Boot

HI

So I finally broke down and bought my first Mini! A red 1973 989!

Anyway, there is a kill switch mounted in the boot that kills all of
the power directly from the battery. The previous owner (a dealer)
suggested switching it ³off² at night or when I am not driving it.

Any ideas why this would be there? I would think that if there was an
electrical problem and the battery was draining they would find the
cause rather than installing a switch.

Am I missing something? THANKS

They make it very hard for someone to crashstart your car if they haven't
found it ... at least that's why I have one :)

i have a kill switch hinden in the car which cuts power to the fuel pumps as
well, saved me a couple of times now....and prior to meeting Lis got used a
lot to simulate running out of fuel on lonley back roads ...if you know what
I mean "nudge nudge wink wink"
