Ullo all

My Mini is prone to 'hickuping', ie. you get a total flat-spot in power as
it seems to mis-fires once and then carry on as normal.  This happens when
the engine is under load, usually during A-road driving etc.

Could this be timing?  Mixture?  Car is a standard 1973 1000.

Thanks

Get a tune up

This will include new points, plugs, timing, tappet adjustment and
checking the carby dashpot and mixture. If its on a machine will also
check leads and dist cap.

That should fix it.

Mine did that, and I just had it tuned (new plugs, oil, HT leads, filters
(oil, petrol and air) etc). Sorted the problem perfectly.

points
points
points
and if that dosnt cure it
points
fit a new condenser as well, and be sure to put a TINY amout of grease on
the slipper.

as the condenser wears, you get spark erosion of the points face, open them
up and you will see small craters one one side aith corresponding peaks on
the other, causes erratic timing and symptoms u describe.
proper service from time to time will cure it, or for a quick get you home
bodge, use fine abrasive paper and re gap the points. (sort it peoperly when
u get home though.....
