Am i correct in assuming that the length of the drive shafts on a disc and a
drum brake mini are identical and the only difference is the length of the
CV joint. Or am i wrong?

Cheers

I believe this is correct - the CV joint is quite different but has the
same internal spline.

Incidentally, the long driveshaft in a Mini is the same length as the
short one in a Morris 1100/1300/1500. If you have the hardy spicer type
inner uni joints (as opposed to rubber crosses or CV joints), as fitted
to some Cooper S models and MiniMatics, the Morris 1100/1300 inner uni
joints have the same bolt pattern and spline and can be used instead,
BUT, the bottom of the splined hole is slightly higher off the drive
flange face (the hole is not quite as deep), so you need to shorten your
driveshafts by about 1/4"!
