Hi,
Has anybody come across this problem before? I have a 1999 rover mini
cooper. Basically after driving for a bit putting your foot on the clutch
makes the car immediately rev and stick (at about 2000 revs), so say if you
come to a stop the car revs upto and over that, the only way to get it back
down to idle is to quickly pump the accelerator pedal. It only seems to kick
in after the engine has warmed. Any ideas? Is it something as simple as a
sticking cable or could it be something worse like the engine management
system or the clutch. As you might have gathered my auto mechanics knowledge
is pretty dire.
Any advice or help would be much appreciated,
Thanks
Neil.

Hi,
The first thing you should check is the throttle cable. Sometimes there is
just one strand of wire broken that causes the throttle to stick. it usually
breaks at the carb end.

its a 1999 - non carb model for starters...
anyway i have heard of the problem of over revving at traffic lights etc, i
think its as simple as changing some sort of sensor for the ecu. caant
remember which sensor though - someone else will im sure.
cheers
