Have just read Taffy's post, I have a similar problem, but my doors leak
from the top and the water runs down the inside of the window (found out
when washing my beautiful little Mini Cooper), hubby has checked to see if
there was any adjustment on the doors but couldn't find any, and now we were
wondering whether or not replacing door seals would cure my problem, the
seals that are on there look fine but the car has been stood for a while in
a garage. Thanks.

Try popping off the door cards - as someone mentioned
in the other thread, there are bits of plastic sheeting
covering the various holes in there.
I had a problem where some of them were torn, others
missing - I cut some replacement plastic in a fat 'T' shape,
wider than the gap, with the vertical section tucked down
inside, and the horizontal section outside, across the top
of the hole and taped on. The water runs dows the back
of this, down inside the door.
Might help...

Check for cracks where the top frame meets the main part of the door. This
causes the frame to lean outwards when shut against the seal.

whilst on the subject...
i have been forced to remove the front carpet completely now because i was
fed up with it being soggy. having now inspected the situation, it seems
that water is coming in from just about everywhere possible!
firstly checked behind the door cards as suggested, and indeed water was
finding its way in via this route. a healthy amount of gaffer-tape seems to
have sorted this out until i get some new outer-window seals.
seondly water seems to come in over the top of the door seals, not
underneath them. this seems strange. i bought all new seals in the summer
and admittadely they are not genuine-parts, however i cant really see any
fault with them. they seem to fit ok.
does any one else have this problem?? can only think of adjusting the
striker plates on the doors to get a snugger fit, but this is a last resort.
does anyone have any clues as to where the water might be coming from?
cheers,
jase

Hi,
Two things here,
first, does the water come in while the car is standing or more so when you
are driving in wet weather?
If it is the first, then there may be a cure. It could be that the top half
of the door has become strained outwards so that the inner side of the door
does not contact the seal around the top of the door. Open the door, and
place your leg against the inside edge of the door, then grasp the top of
the door frame and carefully push the top inwards towards the car. This
should reset the frame so that the door contacts the seal.
Second, If the water comes in mainly while driving, then it is likely that
the metalwork around the eyeball vents has rusted away allowing the wheels
to throw water in. Remove the eyeballs and the dash trim and have a look at
the area where the eyeball piping goes through to the under-wing area. If
this has rusted away there is your problem.

aha, will have a go at bending the doors - this seems plasuable.
my mini doesn;t have the eyeball vents though so alas this cant be the
source of the problem.
water seems to come in even when the car is stationary - however it seems
this only applies to rain water! i have poured countless jugs of water
around the area but none has found its way in.
