replacement wires from a ROVER metro... so theyre differnt, is there
anyway i can still connect them or not? do i need to be that specific.

Normally connecting the battery back to front would fry the diodes in
the alternator and any wiring between the battery and the alternator.

Since the loom is typically mostly in one piece, it's obviously much
easier to repair the damaged parts than to replace the whole thing.

How were you planning on connecting them anyway? The same methods should
work no matter the source of the wire.

I think perhaps yes. What wiring is damaged?
