Make sure that the car is cool, i have had to do this a number of times and
its a bugger! the fuel line being pressurised means that the filter is
screwed fit and where it is located means that it can rust on solid!!!
drain the fuel tank, go at it with two spanners or a one good spanner and a
wide mole wrech to grip the filter, it was the only way for me in the end!
Try to make sure if its tight, not to wind the metal fuel line up into a
spiral!!!!!!!
Coat the area in WD40 or similiar and leave for a while before starting...

Fuel line should be solid metal pipe, like large brake pipes.
you could bung up the line from the tank but this will just result in a good
soaking while you try to do it.
draining is safer and not as mucky in the long run
