Hi

I did an oil and filter change on our open classic at the weekend and since
then the drip it has had forever (well all the time we have had it) has
developed into a drip drip drip.  The drain plug and filter are still clean
so no leaks there.  I checked and i put in 15w40 instead of 20w50.  Could
this be the cause, should i drop the oil and put the thicker stuff in.

thanks

Gary

ps its Duckhams mineral oil nowt fancy

The differfence between 15W40 and 20W40 is not enough to cause a minor
oil leak to become major.

Must be an Open Classic thing as my sisters likes to drip a bit of oil too.
But 15W40 Castrol GTX is just about perfect for it and I guess it needs the
selector rod seal changing to stop the loss.

Well it helps if you can get your Mini up in the air so you can work beneath
it easily.  The seal kit available from MiniSpares costs very little.  You
just then need a roll pin punch or similar to knock the roll pin out.
