Garage experiences

Hi, I haven't been here for ages.

I'm wondering if other people have had problems with garages (especially the
ladies). Several months ago, I took my car in for bodywork and we agreed a
price. later the guy rang and said some more work needed to be done. We agreed
on the price. I rang again to ask if it was finished and mentioned the price
again, it was fine. When I arrived, he'd hiked the price up. I wrote a letter
explaining that I'd withheld the difference (a very small amount and the reason
why). I also mentioned that other people had told me they'd experienced the same
problem with him. Not only that, the car arrived days late, without a water
thingy for the windscreen and with a defective headlamp. I also had to waste a
few hours in a round trip + petrol to have the water holder put back in. The job
on the bodywork still isn't finished. I'd been to this place before and not
encountered any problems.

I never heard anything back from him(no letter, no call), until last night,
where I bumped into him at a meet outside a public place. He was obnoxiously
rude and threatening and said that he'd sent people around to my property to
collect the money. this morning I contacted the Police with regards to
harassment and verbal abuse, I also contacted Trading Standards.

I had a very similar experience with a *very* well known North Western mini
garage.  I have never been so diplomatic as yourself and have warned just
about anyone and everyone - on and off line - not to go there ;)

Well done Wendy,!!
Its handy to know of these experiences, Good as well as bad,,
I remember reading this unfortunate story from Muffy before,
and although I have visited the un-named place , I have never given them any
business,

Solidarity is a powerful tool.

Was it the same place Muffy? The ad in Yellow Pages made me laugh, 'Friendly,
professional service'- what a joke!

Anyway, I'm sure there aren't many 'mini specialist' repair garages on the North
Wales coast, so it narrows it down a bit, without me mentioning any names, or
getting myself into trouble!

Looks like we have our wires crossed.  I said North West - as in Lancashire.

Ooops, thanks Muffin Man, interesting to read the thread. Oh well, at least you
know never to go to the place I went to (and vice versa). Liked your website
BTW.

Begins with an 'R' :) I'll let you fill in the rest of the letter, (just in case
he's about and decides to have a go about that as well).

The police thing went well, he had a visit a few days ago and they warned him
about his behaviour.

Wendy,
Lets hope he learns something from this experience, and starts giving
customers value for money, or just simple honesty would do,
???????????????
Begins with "R",,, on North Wales coast,,, mmmmMMMM, let me think,( he said
scratching his chin)
It wouldn't have a "L" at the end,,, and a "HY" in the middle ? would it,
or a "on sea" tagged on the end,
OK ,I give up
;-)
