was wondering if anyone has had a problem with the ignition not
turning off.

i can turn off and removed the key and the engine keeps on running.
so to turn it off, i either disconnect the coil lead or stall it in
4th gear.

i am thinking that the ignition key/lock switch may be faulty.
could it be anything else?
and where can i get a replacement part from in sydney, aust.?

cheers,
gary

Your ignition switch is faulty, I had this years ago, had to stall the car
with the choke.
Seems like the live wire isnt being disconnected in the switch itself.

Whatever, replace the whole switch, you might be able to retain the key
barrel, but Im not sure.

If the ignition switch is short, and you have to stall the car to stop it,
becareful because the ignition coil will still be powered and could burn
out.

Might be worth disconnecting the battery or at least the coil until you sort
it.

Also check for a meltdown inside of the fusebox,
I have known this to cause the same fault

well, the car died on me while driving last night, and i had to call
the nrma (aussie AA people) to tow me off the main road.

turns out that there was a short from the coil to the body.

a DPE had decided to run a cable throught the firewall from the brake
pedal switch to the coil to get power.  the insulation had worn away
and i was shorting the ignition circuit.
so my ignition switch works now.

i think it may be the time for some serious rewiring.

thanks for the help,
gary
