Hi all,

I have a MPI Mini, in the USA so no diagnostic equip available.
My car will cut out every now and then , completely dies, usually under hard
acceleration, if I dip the clutch and rev the engine a few time in will come
back on strong.
Also is seems the motor runs rich.

I am hoping it is the Lambda sensor, so I bought a new one, now I did not
look too close when taking off the plug to get a spanner on the sensor, can
anyone confirm the colour code the sensor has four wires 2 white a black and
a grey.

Hope someone can confirm which wires they match up to in the harness as the
wires there are different colours.

Cheers

Alan

Thank you for the reply,

Seems the wiring colors are not standard on all MPI wiring harness. My
harness wires are Blue/Red, Black, Grey or Slate and Grey/Green.

Cheers

Motor, internals and wiring are from a Sportpack Cooper S so, 1997 on. Car
is a 1972 Min total rebuild using all the Sportpack parts.
Hope that helps.

Cheers

Yeah, more likely the only thing from 1972 on your car is the VIN number.
You own one of those grey "ringer" imports. It could even be a stolen
european car for all you know.

Hi Nicholas,

I agree there are a tremendous amount of illegal late Minis in the USA and
some may well be stolen.

Mine however is a rebuild 1972, who on earth would go to all the effort of
adding the gutter lip on a shell, especially those people retagging stolen
cars.

Also if this is in fact a late car, why did they change the rear window
pillars where the seat belts mount, change the gutter drains to the position
of the earlier type remove the place where the air bag brain resides, and
other missing features that come on a Real Sportpack .

It would certainly have been cheaper to retag a car, although I am not about
to risk being caught doing that, but my car, and all the MOt's support this
information as well, did start life as a 1000 cc Mini in a horrible purple/
blue colour.

Can you help with the wiring problem though.

Cheers
