About 3 years ago I bought a Paul Smith Mini for £6,000, which
seemed the going rate... MBM had them for over £7,500 at the
time, so I though I did well.
I sold it just over a year later and just couldn't sell it
privately in 2 months at £4,000-£5,000 no idea why. So in the end
my new car arrived and I had to PX which was painful - I got £3,000.
Today m'collegue says it's in Haslemere's Rover garage for £4,500
What?
I had HPI or someone phone me up after I sold it to confirm the
milage, and someone between the garage who bought it and the one
who sold it took 10,000 miles off it!
Not that I thought 28,000 miles was high anyway for an S reg.
I might go over there and have a look...

Did you buy it from a garage in the first place?

Yes, but I did look around autotrader, back of miniworld, etc and
they all seemed about the same price, so I don't feel I paid that
much over the odds.

Two years ago there was one on the garage forecourt (JC Bates) for ?5000.
They had to wait about 2 months for a sale but they got it. They will have
made a profit on it too!!
The PS limited edition is my fav ltd edition and many share my view and wait
for the right car. That is why they hold their value better than most of a
similar ilk.
I think if you could have waited for the right buyer you would have probably
got a better deal but like you say, you needed the cash ASAP as you had
already spent it!!
