How much am I looking at to get a recon gearbox for a 1275GT engine if I
swap in with a box with a broken lay-shaft?

Thanks in advance

MED in leicester will charge about 400quid but....

they will fit a strengthened diff pin, centre oil pickup pipe and NEW
bearings throughout regardless of condition of current 'box.  mine came back
wrapped in cling film and was surgically clean, well impressed and its still
going strong after 18months on a 1380 hillclimb lump with 115bhp at the
wheels.

MED make 'boxes (and engines) for a few ppl in the miglia and se7en series.
Swiftune and OAP are good names too.

I would agree with that. I went for a cheapie box once. It came back with
grit in it, chipped gears and wouldn't go into top as someone had hammered
the end of a selector rod.
