Hi
can anyone tell me if there is a correct colour to paint my engine, or did
the colours originally used vary?
the car is a 69 mk2 Cooper S (Australian) and I've had the engine out for a
rebuild and when it came to the question of what colour to repaint it i
found some differences of opinion on what was correct.
this is (was) how my engine looked:

these are some other peoples pics that i've found:
This is something like the colour i was told was the correct one...

These are more like the colour i've got already...

any of these right or wrong?
paint codes?

thanks

Not sure about the Aussie cars but there was no formal formula for the green
used with UK cars. You can line up several untouched blocks and they are all
a different shade! This debate has gone on for years in concours circles,
but the bottom line is that there is no 'correct' shade.
Classic Car Colours in the UK even offer more than one version of its EP3
'BMC green' engine paint.
