Is it me or is this newsgroup starting to get just a bit annoying and nasty.
I mean the amount of postings that have nothing to do with the Mini and full
of abuse is getting tiring.  Plus there's the fact you let yourself open to
all kinds of spam mail simply using the newsgroup system.

Anyway if your calling me a moron (see posting terminal oil leak?), your
slating a Mini lover.  I've loved the wee motors since I can remember and
have owned one almost constantly since I could drive back in 1984, so unless
you spammers have something to say just shut the xxxx up.

Thanks,

Taffy

Try the minilist http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/minilist/ It seems to
be a yahoo group these days but I have fond memories of the old mailing
list.

I use a newsclient called Xnews ( when I'm not aat work using google
groups ), it's a bit rough around the edges but it allows me to delete
messages from my local cache that I'm not interested in. And yup; it
happens alot these days.

Hi Taffy,
The reason for your extra spam quota is that you're posting "nude".
From your email headers it looks like you're using outlook 6.0 which I don't
have that much experience with.  Open your account settings dialog and
change your email address to a nonsense one.
As for newsgroups, I think they all have a general ebb and flow.  Next
year it will all be back to the helpful norm.

The thread you refer to was crossposted to another group with the demand
not to top post by "Matt", in a clear and deliberate attempt to start a
flame war.

That is a feature of all usenet. If your email address is publicly
visible it WILL get picked up and you WILL get spam.

No, he's a troll. Once again this was Matt.

Don't let a couple of troll posts by one person turn your newsgroup into
a battleground. Don't react to the trolls (even if it seems like fun at
the time, Macca), because if you do, they'll come back to play some more
and before very long folks like Taffy will look around and decide the
group is getting nasty and leave.
