While checking the condition of thte dizzy in my 92 I noticed that the screw
holding the distributor cap ( the screw next to the vacuum side of the
dizzy) is damaged. For whatever reason the threads on that screw are
stripped and it is doing nothing to hold the cap on. The other screw does a
fair job on its own but there is a bit of wobble and this might be the
reason I am not getting a good spark at all speeds and RPMs.
I tried a new good screw, but the threads in the dizzy are also damaged and
it won't hold.
Any advice? New dizzy? Can I drill out the opening and install a bolt and
nut?
thanks,
Craig

This is an electronic dizzy, just like the metro has isn't it??
Get a metro unit from the scrappy, and transfer the part of the housing that
has the threads for the cap. Keep the original mini distributor shaft and
vacuum advance, as these are probably specific for the mini (ignition timing
related).
