Dave a mate of mine at my local Mini Club has just invested in an X reg Mini
Cooper Sport and very nice it is too, the only problem is the horn doesn't
work.  The horn does sound when the alarm is activated though but as it's a
late model it has the two little horn pushes on the airbag steering wheel.
Last night after our meeting Dave took one of the caps off and earthed the
contacts and the horn then sounded when the button was pushed.

Any body know why the buttons aren't working?  Is it an earthing problem?
And no it wasn't bought from a Rover dealer, but from an ordinary car dealer
who have told Dave that the warranty doesn't cover electrics!  Yes really.

Cheers,

Taffy

To dwell on the warranty thingy, i would have thought that mechanical
warranty would cover electrical failure, i would bypass the dealer and goto
the lender who should be the company that provided the warranty. Failing
that, if the horn didnt work from the start the dealer has in essence sold a
car that does meet, even basically meet a standard mot'd car, so it fails to
meet the agreement made between the dealer and the customer in exchanging
moneys for a road worthy motor vehicle. Try the warranty company, then try
trading standards...

Hi Taffy,
if you or your friend are tempted to have a go yourselves,
just remember to disconnect the battery before you remove the air bag from
the wheel,
do not reconnect battery with air bag disconnected as this will register a
fault,

That's in belgium the usual way 6 months warranty on mechanical and only 3
on electric's.But in your case the dealer should at least fix it or look wat
is wrong if you just bought it.
