You can't use the metro hub in the Mini, it's far too tall, so as you've
discovered, the front end geometry is horrid. You need to find a pair of
Mini disk brake hubs.

Just to expand a little on what Graham says, some people suggest you fit
longer lower arms to get the wheels back to something like correct camber.
However, this changes the steering axis inclination to more than the
original Mini setup. The effect of this is to significantly increase camber
as the wheels are steered. As a rather simplistic rule, this means you have
less tyre contact area in corners reducing grip and causing increased
understeer. If you are using tall profile tyres, this effect is not so
obvious because the tyre can deflect more than lower profile versions.
There are other factors in the equation, of course, but this is basically
what happens.
