I have an early model gearbox with the number 22G333 on the front and am
wanting to know what it is out of. A 'mate' tells me it is a cooper S box.
Is there any way of telling??? What would (should) the ratios be?

They are the early steal coupling type.
It is currently mated to an 1100 engine (not S). I am going to split it off
this week end and check the gear numbers
Thanks Craig

So that means that it has the Hardy Spicer uni joints and not the rubber
uni joints.

Which would indicate that's an S gearbox.

1100 autos and 1300s in Australia used them too. Does anyone know what
Aussie manual 1100s used?
Minimad - 20 May 2004 12:42 GMT
The engine is definitely not off this gearbox.
The standard 1100 had rubber unis, but a lot over the years got replaced
with the steel ones. This gearbox has steel unis as off an S box (one of the
reasons I brought it!)and I am sure that was what my mate originally based
his guess on.

Anyway, will know if the internals are right after the week end.

my other mini (65 deluxe) that i'd like to be rid of has a mini K 1100
mounted on the original 3 synchro gearbox.  one of the other gearboxes i got
with the car is a 22G1128 4 synchro which i'm pretty sure was the original
1100 gearbox.  Its got the rubber uni's on it

If it is a 65 Deluxe, then the 22G1128 is not the original box.
It should be a 22A1128 as the 4 synchro was not released until 1968 (I
think?!) The one that is in it may just be the original!!
Thanks to Geoff for putting me onto hotbricks.org.au.
Very useful

i like the hotbricks site - a lot of good pics on there and some good info
too.  what i was saying about the gearbox is that the 22G1128 i've got is
the original (i think) gearbox for the 1100 motor - it came out of a Mini K
(69-71??).  I can't remember what box the original one from the Deluxe is -
the car's all in bits anyway - if anyone needs any parts send me an email

right

If it still has the correct innards, the laygear will be stamped 22G1100
which is the close ratio item.
